Environ 2026 – Habits and Habitats: Adapting Sustainable Practices for Environmental Protection

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) will host the ESAI 36th Irish Environmental Researchers Colloquium, Environ 2026, from 27 to 29 April 2026.

The theme of Environ 2026, “Habits and Habitats: Adapting Sustainable Practices for Environmental Protection,” will feature an expanded and diverse range of session themes, designed to capture the breadth of contemporary environmental science. These sessions aim to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and provide a space for innovative research that addresses both the scientific and societal aspects of environmental protection. Environ 2026 is expected to attract early-career and established researchers, bringing together approximately three hundred delegates. Oral and poster sessions, student competitions, networking events, Early Career Network activities, and a conference dinner will feature across the programme.

Who is involved?

Quite simply, everyone in Ireland has a role to play. This can be from something as simple as making sure you don’t pollute your local stream, or a local community working together to establish a Rivers Trust to enhance the rivers and lakes in their area, to a Government Department or Agency helping a Minister implement a new policy to help protect and enhance all our water bodies.

This website has been developed and is maintained by the Environmental Protection Agency, and is a collaboration between the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Local Authority Waters Programme.
