LAWPRO Updates: Upcoming Public Meetings on Water Quality

The Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) works with communities to protect and restore good water quality in Ireland’s rivers, lakes, estuaries, ground and coastal water. Under the River Basin Management Plan for Ireland, LAWPRO carries out work in areas where water quality needs restoration and/or protection called Priority Areas for Action (PAA) to support targeted water quality improvements with other stakeholders.

The Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) is inviting communities to attend upcoming public meetings focused on water quality and local actions. These meetings are an opportunity to learn more about the health of your local rivers, lakes, and coastal waters, and to share your views on how we can work together to protect and improve them.

Who is involved?

Quite simply, everyone in Ireland has a role to play. This can be from something as simple as making sure you don’t pollute your local stream, or a local community working together to establish a Rivers Trust to enhance the rivers and lakes in their area, to a Government Department or Agency helping a Minister implement a new policy to help protect and enhance all our water bodies.

This website has been developed and is maintained by the Environmental Protection Agency, and is a collaboration between the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Local Authority Waters Programme.
